Moneyhub has closed: what happened and your alternatives

The Moneyhub consumer app is gone — but it wasn't the shutdown most coverage described. It was handed to another company. Here's what actually happened, whether you need to do anything, and the honest options if the new home isn't for you.

The short version. Moneyhub's help centre states the app was sunsetted and no longer available from 31 July 2026. It wasn't simply switched off: WPS Advisory took over management of the app, rebranded as WPS LifeStage, running on the same platform underneath. Over 10,000 users had already opted in to move by the end of June. Moneyhub the company continues — it has pivoted to enterprise open-banking services.

A note on the date, because the internet disagrees

If you've been searching this, you've probably seen 14 August 2026 quoted as the closure date. Several well-known money sites still say so.

Moneyhub's own help centre, updated on 30 June 2026, says something different: "The Moneyhub app will be officially sunsetted and no longer available from the 31st of July." The same notice told users to either migrate or download their data and close their account before 31 July.

It's possible the 14 August date refers to a later stage of data deletion, or that it was an earlier plan that moved. We can't resolve it for you with certainty — so if you still have access to anything, check in the app or email Moneyhub support rather than trusting any article, including this one.

What actually happened

Moneyhub announced it was refocusing on enterprise clients — the business-to-business side of open banking, which is where most of its revenue comes from. Rather than close the consumer app outright, it found a partner to take it on.

That partner is WPS Advisory, already a Moneyhub client running a white-labelled version of the same app called LifeStage. In Moneyhub's words, the app "will remain the same Moneyhub platform underneath and you can continue to use it, just as you do today" — the branding and the provider change, the software largely doesn't.

Users were given a prompt on their dashboard from mid-July with two choices:

Anyone who did neither had their account and data deleted, in line with UK GDPR.

If you migrated: should you stay?

For a lot of people, honestly: yes, at least for now. You're on the same platform you already chose, your subscription was carried over, and switching costs time. "It still works and I didn't have to do anything" is a perfectly reasonable place to land.

The reasons people do look around after a transfer like this tend to be less about features and more about fit:

If you missed the deadline

If your account was deleted, the data is gone from Moneyhub's systems — that was the stated outcome and it's what GDPR requires them to do.

You can still make a subject access request under UK GDPR, asking what personal data an organisation holds about you. Organisations normally have one month to respond. It may return little if deletion has already happened, but it costs nothing to ask. Moneyhub's customer support address is published on their site.

A practical note. If you've lost several years of categorised transaction history, don't try to rebuild it. Transaction history is far less useful than people assume once it's more than a year old. What actually matters going forward is your current balance sheet — what you own, what you owe — and you can rebuild that in an afternoon from statements you already have.

The alternatives, honestly

Which app suits you depends on what you were using Moneyhub for. It sat awkwardly between two categories, and the replacements split along that line.

AppBest forBank syncProperty & pensions
WPS LifeStageStaying put — same platform, new providerYesPartial
EmmaBudgeting and spending analysisYesNet worth on paid tier
SnoopCutting bills and switching providersYesNo
AureliDedicated net worth trackingVariesYes
WealthlyTotal net worth incl. illiquid assetsNot yetYes

If you used Moneyhub mainly to watch your spending, a budgeting-led app is the closest replacement. Emma is the most established; Snoop is stronger on bill switching than on analysis.

If you used it to keep an eye on your overall wealth — the balance-sheet view rather than the transaction view — you want a dedicated net worth tracker. Aureli and Wealthly both sit in this category and are worth comparing directly; we've written an honest comparison of UK net worth trackers that includes both.

Where Wealthly fits — and where it doesn't

Since you're reading this on our site, the fair thing is to be plain about it.

Wealthly is a net worth tracker, not a budgeting app. It's built around the assets that don't show up in a bank feed: your home valued using Land Registry House Price Index data, your car via DVLA, and all three UK pension types — workplace, final-salary and State — with a retirement projection.

What it doesn't do yet: live bank syncing. It's built and in testing but not switched on, so bank and savings balances are entered manually. If automatic transaction feeds are the thing you can't live without, Wealthly isn't your replacement today, and Emma or staying with LifeStage will serve you better. We'd rather tell you that now than have you find out after signing up.

Nothing here is financial advice. It's information to help you work out what suits your circumstances — if you need advice about your pension or investments, speak to a regulated financial adviser.

Frequently asked questions

When did the Moneyhub app actually close?

Moneyhub's own help centre, updated 30 June 2026, states the app was sunsetted and no longer available from 31 July 2026. Some third-party articles cite 14 August 2026. If you still have access, check in the app or with Moneyhub support directly rather than relying on either date.

Has Moneyhub the company shut down?

No. Moneyhub Financial Technology Limited continues to operate, focusing on enterprise and open-banking services for businesses. It remains FCA-authorised as an account information and payment initiation service provider. Only the consumer-facing app closed.

What is WPS LifeStage?

WPS LifeStage is the app run by WPS Advisory, which took over management of the Moneyhub consumer app. Moneyhub described it as the same platform underneath, so migrated users keep broadly the same experience with different branding and a different provider.

Can I still download my Moneyhub data?

The in-app CSV export was available until the closure date. If you no longer have access, you can make a subject access request under UK GDPR asking what personal data is held about you. Organisations normally have one month to respond, though if data has already been deleted there may be little to return.

Do I have to stay with WPS LifeStage?

No. The migration was opt-in and you can leave whenever you like. For many people staying is the simplest option, since it's the same underlying platform. If you want something different, the choice depends on whether you're after budgeting or net worth tracking.
